Reading the heatmap
How to read the four heatmap layers on the plan of your tour.
The heatmap draws your tour’s own model from above, cut just above eye height so the walls read as solid lines, like an architect’s plan. Visitor activity is laid over the top. It follows the date range chosen at the top of the Analytics page.
The four layers
Pick a layer with the buttons above the plan.
| Layer | What it shows | Colours |
|---|---|---|
| Time spent | Where people stood. | Grey for a little, through green and yellow to red for the most time. |
| Walked | The routes people walked. | Light blue to dark blue. Darker means more people. |
| Looked at | What people faced most: the spot in the middle of their view. | Grey through green and yellow to red for the most looking. |
| Flow | How people moved between renders. | Thicker arrows are more common moves. Bigger dots were visited more. |
A key under the plan runs from Less to More.
Dots and floors
- Each dot is a render. Hover it to see the room name, the time spent there and how many visits it had.
- If the tour has more than one level, floor buttons appear above the plan. The heatmap opens on the busiest floor.
- With lots of moves, Flow leaves out the rare ones so the main routes stand out. Most common moves lists them all. See Rooms people looked at.
Reading it well
- A red patch in Time spent is where people stopped and lingered, often a view, the kitchen island or the main bedroom.
- Compare Looked at with your hero features. If nobody faces the view you’re selling, consider changing the start view.
- Rooms with no colour in Walked may be hard to find. A hotspot or a clearer room name can help.
If it’s empty
- No walking recorded yet: no one has visited the published tour in this range. Visits opened from your dashboard aren’t counted. Open the share link in a private window or on your phone to test.
- Nothing on this floor for this period yet: try another floor.
- Looking data is collected from new visits: Looked at fills in as people view the tour.
