Picture quality and phones
Choose how sharp renders get when buyers stop, and keep phones from running out of memory.
While buyers move, the tour uses a smaller copy of each render so it stays smooth. When they stop at a render, it can swap in a sharper one. Picture quality sets how sharp.
Find it in your project under Set up tour, then Options.
The three settings
| Setting | What happens when buyers stop |
|---|---|
| Sharpest | The full-size render loads. |
| Balanced | The render sharpens to 4K. This is the default. |
| Fastest | No sharpening. Uses the least data. |
Pick one, check it in the preview, then press Save.
Warning: Sharpest can make phones crash and reload the tour. It’s best for tours viewed mostly on computers.
Phones and Sharpest
When you choose Sharpest, a checkbox appears under it: Use Balanced on phones. It’s on by default, and we recommend leaving it on. Phones and tablets then get Balanced, while computers still get the full-size render.
Untick it only if you’re sure buyers’ devices can handle full-size renders, for example a tablet in a display suite you’ve tested.
Which to choose
- Most tours: Balanced. Sharp enough on a big screen and safe on phones.
- High-end tours shown on computers: Sharpest, with Use Balanced on phones ticked.
- Slow connections or very large projects: Fastest.
Good to know
- Sharpening only happens where buyers stop. It doesn’t happen while walking or hopping.
- Sharpest only helps if your renders are bigger than 4K. A 4K render looks the same on both.
- Only a few sharp renders are kept at once, fewer on phones, to save memory.
- To see what’s loaded as you move around, use Render loading in the check tools.
If a tour looks soft, see The tour looks blurry. If it keeps reloading on a phone, see The tour won’t load on a phone.
