Measuring in a tour
Buyers can tap two points in the tour to see the distance between them.
The Measure button lets buyers check sizes, like how wide a wall is for a sofa or how high a bench is. Distances come from your proxy model.
How buyers measure
- Press Measure. It’s the ruler button with the other tour buttons. A bar appears saying Tap two points to measure. The first time, a note says measurements come from the 3D model, so allow a few centimetres either way.
- Tap the first point. Tap a wall, floor or object. The bar says Now tap the second point. On a computer, a line follows the mouse.
- Tap the second point. A line shows with the distance on it.
- Measure again. Tap again to start a new measurement.
- Finish. Press Done, or Esc on a computer.
Reading the result
- Under 1 m it shows centimetres, like 85 cm. Longer distances show metres, like 3.42 m.
- If the two points are at different heights, it also shows how high, like 2.10 m · 1.20 m high.
- Tapping where there’s nothing in the model shows Tap on a wall, floor or object.
Turn it on or off
Measure is on by default. To hide it, go to Set up tour, then Options, untick Measure under Buttons, and press Save. See Tour options.
The button only shows when the tour has a model to measure.
Accuracy
Measurements are only as good as your proxy model. Walls, floors and benches modelled to size measure well. Furniture left out of the model can’t be measured, and the tape measures to whatever is behind it instead. See Making a simple proxy model.
Tip: check a couple of known sizes in the preview before you publish, like a door width or ceiling height.
